Say ‘goodbye’ to the Trump e-bike tariffs

China’s Ministry of Commerce announced that an agreement had been reached with the Trump administration last week.

The move would see a phasing out of tariffs imposed by both China and the United States, including electric bicycle tariffs.

The original tariffs set by the Trump administration levied an additional 25% tariffs on electric bicycles and e-bike components imported from China.

Electric bicycles are excluded from tariffs

From Bicycle Retailer "U.S. Customs and Border Protection has ruled that e-bikes fall under the same category as electric motorcycles and therefore share an exclusion, granted in September, from the Trump administration's Section 301 tariffs on Chinese imports. The decision means importers of Chinese e-bikes are now exempt from paying the 25% tariff the administration imposed in August 2018. Importers should be able to collect previously paid tariffs as well."
